As some already notices, i'm revamping my Scale Modelling site (previously at http://kumanworks.110mb.com) and moving it to my own domain (http://kumanworks.com). And during this migration process i'm learning to use Joomla 1.7 as i go a long.

If you go to my site now, some of the stuff will be changing and will be updated as i migrate stuff from the old site. I created a new PAGE in here is to list out what plugins/module that i'm using in creating my new site.

Real Steel!!!! The Best Movie i watched!!!

Call me late.... yes i admit i'm late at watching this movie... heck i really wish i was early in the line at the cinema when they first show this... but nooo..... i have to ignore this and thinking.."sure should be enough watching it on TV next Hari Raya"... but i was dead wrong......

I would say this is better than Transfomers: Dark of the Moon (maybe because in this movie there's only 1 star robot, ATOM).

As i was watching this movie a few minutes ago, i was at the edge of my computer-seat, abandoning my M8 Greyhound build and letting my air compressor running on empty... and also almost let my Gunze Surfacer dried ( i'm ready to primed my M-8 before i "accidently" switch on Real Steel).

The star of the movie have to be ATOM, and Max Kenton really brings the movie to live.... not forgetting Hugh Jackman & Evangeline Lily (famous from her LOST years and Martin Keamy from LOST also with her in this movie!!)

So, for those like me who is LATE.... go get it from your nearest VCD/DVD shop (where able possible buy original guys!) and enjoy the movie..... its a good movie for the whole family (except for maybe a short kissing scene on top of the Tallets' Gym) so now go watch it!!!

Supernatural Season 7 is back!!

My first post in 2012 and i began with cheering YEHAAAA!!!!.... Supernatural Season 7 is BACK!!! after an almost a month long hiatus.... the adventure of Sam and Dean continues...

This episode 11 aired on January 6th, 2012 and it begins where Episodes 10 left off... after Bobby Singer pass them the set of numbers....

What is that number? got to watch it!!!... and they're back to hunting Vetala... and at the same time helping Krissy get back his dad...

Really bad on what happened to Bobby... but i'm sure he'll be back (or is he?)

anyway... will continue to watch this next Friday....

ahh.. stay tuned for my next Scale Modelling stuff.. a M4 Greyhound.... :D

COMPLETED British Challenger 2 MBT Op. Telic (Part Final)

Finally its done...
after a few months sitting on my workbench its finally done!!

with added some detailing this must have been my most elaborate base to date for my build and the only thing missing is some figure....:o)

now i included some canvas tarp on the tank to cover some of the ration boxes and with added stuff i hope this would somehow represent the challenger 2 on a checkpoint somewhere during Ops Telic...

if you look closely, you might saw a poster of the late Saddam Hussein on the base

This would be my "virtual" entry for a locally organized Diorama Group Build, it is virtual because i couldnt make it to the event due to me visiting the LIMA 2011 over the weekend thus my entry will just be based on some of these photos.

There's a lot of my "first" on this build which includes the base, the use of scratch build Jersery Barrier, the use of those ration boxes and the elaborate base.

and this will be my last completed build for year 2011 and looking forward to more build in 2012. Stay tuned for more stuff from my workbench.. and be on a look-out for my new website with my own domain name coming in a few weeks.... for preview visit http://kumanworks.com

LIMA 2011 - here i come!!

(actually tomorrow, but since early tomorrow morning i'll depart to Langkawi so i posted this today... :o) )

Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace (LIMA) Exhibition 2011 is happening now (for the public) until tomorrow in where else... Langkawi Island and i'll be there tomorrow morning...

Now at its 11th edition and my 2nd LIMA visit to date ( i was there during LIMA 2007). My main interest is to see the the Dassault Rafale, Saab Gripen, FA-18E Super Hornet and the Eurofighter in person also not forgetting the TUDM MIG-29s and the SU-30MKM....

I'm also going to make sure i didnt miss the helicopter exhibition on the tarmac and visiting the souvenir shop since i somehow forget to do so on my last visit in 2007 (maybe during that time i was captivated by the Red Arrows acrobatics performance a few meters above my head hahahaha)

I planned to go via Kuala Kedah and still haven't decided if its going to be a day trip or will stay there until Sunday morning since accommodation shouldn't be a problem since i have a cousin working on the island.

Anyway for more info on LIMA 2011 visit http://www.lima.com.my/ and remember that today is the starting day for the public to visit the exhibition (9-10 December) since the last 3 days (6,7, 8 December) it only open for Trade Visitors

I'll post some photos during my visit there sometime next week and until then....

Back with another round of updates for my British Challenger 2 MBT...

Yesterday, i ENLIST myself with the armor campaign in www.armorama.com under the British Armour Past and Present campaign. To be honest, i'm very scared to join in since my build skill is very amateurish compared to all the sifus over there.. but to really encourage me to build something, i just thought i join in the fun... This campaign will end in Dec 31, 2011; so i still have 1 month to finish my build..

This time i'm going to put some ratio storage & boxes on the base... this is just a test to see if the boxes sizes confirm to the 1:35 scale.

I found the boxes from the internet and then print it out on a 100gm white paper and now i got a whole bunch of boxes to fold and glue together.

This is not the final layout as i'm still toying with the idea on how to place it on the base.
The checkpoint sign i found via google and then shrink it to size... and print them together with the boxes.

Still need some touch-up on the boxes and the sign since now they're just too clean.

The late Saddam Hussein poster also i found on the internet from some 1/35 propaganda set and i print it on a 70gm paper the same goes for the poster on the jersey barrier.

below is how it looks for now...

Will update a little bit more later with the final placement of all the stuff and then i can proceed with dusting the whole setup..

new show...Travelog AirAsia, but...

I loved travel show... somehow i find such show is very informative and educational at the same time...
so today at 7pm, the new show i've been looking forward to watch finally being aired on TV3...Travelog AirAsia... and their first destination is the City of Love... PARIS!!!

Every aspect of the travelling to Paris is covered in this Travelog AirAsia pilot episode from visiting the Eifel Tower, Versailles Palace to shopping near the Arc de Triomphe all done in 5 days and 4 nights...

But... i somehow think that maybe Travelog AirAsia should cover a little bit of how to obtain a halal food there during the travel.. like a recommended restaurant to get a Halal food in Paris or something that we might need to prepare when travelling there... Not saying that it should be covered in detail but should be enough if they would make a tips "pop-up" during the show showing the place to eat...

During the 1 hour, all i can see that, they said that they completed their lunch etc but failed to mentioned what they eat and where... this might be very important for travelers.. ( at least i think its important)...

and IIRC, they mentioned in their promo during Melodi, they should whould make a review of Hotels from 3 stars to 5 stars hotel during the travel.... but again.. i might be mistaken...

anyway.. overall a nice show especially for people like me who never traveled to Paris before (never travel to anyplace outside Malaysia in the recent years).. hopefully it will improved later on...

they even have a contest at the end of the show... this week the questions is... When was the Eifel Tower built?... but in their website they have a different question.... hmmmm weird...

looking forward for next week show... :o)

The Base : WIP: British Challenger 2 MBT Op. Telic (Part 5)

Another round of updates...

In this updates i'll try to make a suitable base for the tank with all those 1/35 Jersey Barrier that i created earlier. This British Challenger 2 i'll try to show that its on a checkpoint randomly during the Ops Telic duration.

The main "ingredients" for my base are:

White Styrofoam
Wall filler
A4 Photo frame

First we'll look at the base, i cut the white Styrofoam to fit the a ready made photo-frame that i purchased earlier.

Below is the base with the wall filler already applied on top of the white-styrofoam.

After that i would primer the base with some industrial surfacer and then with a layer of flat black as the base color. Also this would depict the road color.

As you can see, i try to lay some of the stuff that one can expect to find on a check point for example the Jersey Barrier, some pipes and some random stuff. (please ignore the bombs in the above photo, just something i test to make the base more lively).

Below are photos of the idea of the base with the Challenger 2 tank on it.

Other modeller suggested me to put some signs and some barbwire on the base.
I've already printed out some signs to test and also will try to make some barbwire and let see how it look on my base

WIP: British Challenger 2 MBT Op. Telic (Part 4) - 1/35 Jersey Barrier

in this entry, i'll explain on how i create the 1/35 Jersey Barrier (K-Rail) usually found on road construction or on some checkpoints or as a barricade. There're resin equivalent out there but i thought i would try to scratch-build some first and see how it fair with the resin counterparts.

the measurement i got off internet (from Capeconcrete.com) and i scale it down to 1/35 scale, so below is the measurement as i calculated.

Armed with a ruler and a plastics sheet, i draw the measurement on the plastic sheet and come up with this drawing in 1/35 scale (approximation applies).

Make sure you use a new blade for cutting process and be careful not to cut you fingers, since they are irreplaceable. Anyway, after the cutting and with some glue (i found that using the cheap ABS Glue yield a very good bond between the plastic sheet, compared to other glue), here is the basic shape of the jersey barrier.

and remember to cover the opening on both end of the barrier, since the cutout i present above will left you with an open-ended jersey barrier.

To give it some texture, i sparingly wipe on some industrial thinner on the surface and left it there for a few second before using an old toothbrush and at and angle of 45deg perpendicular to the surface i make a random "jabbing-motion" and here is the result.

Alternatively, you can use Mr Surfacer 500 and spray it at a distance, this will help create a rough texture on the surface of the barrier (i really need to test this next).

Now i got a few more barrier to make and i "might" cast this as well for future project...

oh.. also need to clean the edges as well since not all jersey Barrie have sharp edges like mine. :)

Here are some completed barrier (minus the paint) and how it scale up to my Challenger 2.

Next, "washing" the tank with turpentine and oil paints also need to paint the barrier.. that will be next...

moving on with this build..

next painting the desert color.

from various reference online i can see that the Challenger color varies from yellow to dark yellow.. but most of it will be in yellow color (yellow is not referring to that of bright yellow, but rather a slight yellow tint.. cant imagine seeing a bright yellow tank in action :o) ).

here are the colors i'll be using to simulate the yellow paint..

Gunze Arcylic H318 (Radome), H27 (Tan) and H79 (Dark Yellow)

and the result after a few layers of the color above. The way i sprayed it is starting with the Dark Yellow - Tan - and finally the Radome color.

I think i'll need to add more Tan to the color above, will update the final color very soon.

next step is to create a few Jersey Barrier, to add to the base for this build.
I'll be scratchbuilding the barrier based on the information i found online.

This brings back memories ahhahahah

I was making the Jersey Barrier for my Challenger 2, then at random my Winamp played this song. Its a Malay Rock song dated back in 1989.

Back 1989, i was in one of the secondary school in Alor Star, Kedah. Back then this was the song to sing to girls. But in my class, we have a very fierce Maths teacher (we always get in trouble when we couldnt answer her maths questions) coincidently her name is Cikgu RASHIDAH!!!... so we would sing this song to indicate that her class would be next... sometimes she caught us by surprise for singing this song.. and she would again make us regret we ever sang this to her....

Those were some memories.. and now after 22 years.. this song still THE SONG to get "angau" too...

I dont know where Cikgu Rashidah now, hopefully she is well and healthy.

And they sure dont make song like this anymore.. :lol:

WIP: British Challenger 2 MBT Op. Telic (Part 2)

Painting..

After a treatment of Mr Surfacer 1000 (which i think is a must for me), i sprayed a few layer of green paint on the tank. This is due (from my reading) initially before going to Ops. Telic most of these tank usually will be painted with the usual Nato green camo and they got repainted to the desert color prior to the conflict. so this is what i'm trying to accomplish (read the word :TRY :lol:).

Here are the greens i'll be using...

below is the result after a few coat of H302 - Green

Preshading with H330 - Dark Green

and lastly the overall lighter coverage of H303 - Green something

i let it sit for a couple of hours, before i sprayed the tank with a hairspray preparing the tank for a chipped technique later on (after i sprayed on the Desert color).

Noted that i installed all the road-wheel and track on the tank prior to my painting. I rarely do this but for this tank, note that the side skirt almost cover the whole track.. so i figure it would save me sometime from painting each and individual road-wheels and the track... cheating.. yes.. but the end result i *hope* would be satisfactory...

Next post i'll show the desert color...

WIP: British Challenger 2 MBT Op. Telic (Part 1)

A new build from me, this time a MBT (Main Battle Tank).

This a build that follows my other MBT build the Abrams (Click me) since i'm getting very inspired of a desert colored tank from the Gulf theater.

This Trumpeter kit is not a new kit in fact i got this kit way back in my early years as a modeler a few years back. The build juts going to be OOB and IIRC i didnt use any putty at all in this construction process.. just only i need to use a small plastic sheet to cover the gap between the turret and the top mantlet. Maybe they forgot to supply this little piece of plastic since i think for Tamiya version of the Challenger, they provide a separate piece of vinyl to cover the "gap".

and this kit being an old kit, i also noted that the surface didnt come with an anti-skid surface, so this i need to add and this will be my new experience as well. Here is how i do it, and i got this tips from another forum so let see if this works.

I'll be using Tamiya Diorama Texture paint...

i just brush on the surface with the paint using a brush. Dont have to be too thick a thin layer would suffice. After that with a brush do a up and down motion perpendicular to the surface and this is the final result.

i think it looks ok.. so i'm sticking with it... :o)

If its not because of google as my default search engine, i wouldnt have noticed that today is Google's 13th Birthday..... so a round of Birthday wish for google for a good 13 years serving the net and a good hunderd years to come....... :D

Above is their logo in all their default page today and thats how i know today is their birthday :D

This is the problem of hosting your web on a free server... you never know when the site going to be "down" and only left to wonder on what happened to it... so now i think i need to do something about this downtime.. :o) more coming soon,...

but for now.. its back and i'm looking forward to updating it as well updating my blog with (especially) scale modelling related stuff....

all my traffic update before the downtime also gone.. and now the traffic to my site reseted to "0" hmmm what to do....

by the way.. my Challenger 2 MBT is "cooking" (or rather painting) in my spray booth at the moment.. will post more once i'm almost done with it....

Its been ages since i last install Windows98!!

First post in the "new moon" (sound like that movie title already)...

Google is your friend...

As the topic suggested... today is a historic day for me since after how many decades of not installing Windows98, i got a chance to do so due to a PC malfunctioned in the production line.

This pesky machine required Windows98 to boot the software and it believe it can work with WindowsXP but some tinkering is required.. so i thought just install Windows98 and be done with it..

Lucky for me the Windows98 cd i used is of a Second Edition where the setup can be booted directly from the CD, else the problem of preparing the Boot disket etc.

As i was so used to installing modern OS's, installing this version makes me feel a bit weird... with all the extra large fonts and dark-bright-blue screen... aduhai the pain of waiting for it to install...

but at the end i survived after so-many restarts.. now installing the drivers.... i wonder if i still need to install the display driver in this ancient PC.. :lol:

for me personally i dont mind, maybe because i dont own a FB account (suprise..suprise). I'm just too busy with my Hobby, work & family to have a FB account. But i do think that FB is a good social tools (if used properly and not get addicted too much to it).

I can imagine some of my friend who owns FB might go berserk if FB was destroyed.. even if the internet connection in the office got interuption for 5 minutes resulted in they cannot update/open FB, they will be harassing the IT Department like mad.... let alone it got destroyed.... aduhai... sure pening satu office...

anyway just my take on the topic from the Radio again this morning...

This actually a delayed blog from me, the topic above is actually being discussed IIRC Monday morning in my favorite radio show on the road to work FLY-FM Pagi "Rock" Crew...

first an introduction why i create this topic..

i drive to work every morning altough my office is just 15-minutes away, being in the car is the only time i can listen to radio (other time i'll be watching TV and doing computer stuff). Anyway.. during my time on the road, i listen to the radio and FLY-FM fills my morning needs for laughter just nicely. Before this i listen to Phat-Fabes & Ben + Nadia in the morning but now Phat-Fabes & Ben handling the evening show (which i also enjoyed listening while on the road returning home) and the morning session now handled by Nadia (always being bullied hahaha), Hafiz & Prem. And their frequency over here is 89.9FM (from Penang).

anyway.. last monday they discussed this topic on thing that you should not do on public transportation.
As usual their lines always busy to i think i need to share it on my blog instead...

For the thing that "you should not do in public transportation" are....

1. do not talk on the phone so loudly like there no one around you (1 caller actually said the same thing, and i have to agree with her).
I dont want to know what your friend ate yesterday during sahur/berbuka/didnt eat. it just plain annoying... but SMS is ok.. provided its on vibrate more....

2. Dont fart: doesnt matter if its not smelly or with some silencer or sound like a violin or an atomic bomb... just NO FART allowed on public transportation.

3. Dont sleep so soundly that your head will "lentok" on the people sitting right next to you... and it will be worst if you have those "air liur basi" drippling all over... aduhai.....

Dont pick your "gold mine".. in fact dont pick it even in your car... another people in the car infornt of you might saw this from their rear-view mirror and might lead to some other nasty consequences...( for example.. wondering what they'll do with the ""gold", might get honked due to not paying attention to the green traffic light etc.)

i'll post any other topic i heard on air and share my view here.. (since getting through to the radio station lines is a no go)

M1A1 Abrams - Battle Of the Rumalyah Oilfields: Completed

MBT M1A1 Abrams - Battle Of the Rumalyah Oilfields

Main battle tank of the US Army during the Battle of the Rumalyah Oilfields in March 2nd, 1991.
This model was completed at around June 2011 and participated in the SMM2011 in KL.

The base kit is from Dragon with the scale of 1/35 of the actual tank size (approx), and this was completed with the sand color as it was used in the said battle.

Again this has been a straight-forward build as this kit has very minimal issue in construction. I kept the weathering to the very minimal since i'm still learning on how to properly weather a tank resulted in a not so accurate representation of the tank in that battle (which suppose to be a very USED and dirty tank).

This build span at around 2-3 months while i'm juggling with my Titanic build on and off and glad that i'm able to finish it in time for the SMM2011 event.

WIP: 1/35 Russia KV-1 Ekhranami (Part 1)

I'm back this time trying to complete this long-overdue tanks which was suppose to be completed back in 2008 for a Soviet Group Build.

A kit by Trumpeter which i bought it from previous Miniature Hobby location in Mid-Valley way back when i just started this hobby. (Miniature Hobby is no more, they ceased operation a few months back)

This kit gives you 2 options for track-link; if you feel adventurous and up to the challenge (as i did...bad mistake but fun nonetheless); you can make use of the seperate link track where you need to glue every piece one-by-one. Tedious but worth it. OR you can use the vinyl track, an easy way out and will make for a fast & quick build.

Anyway... moving on.. :o)

I didnt face any major issue while building this tank and minimal putty was used near the turret and the rest is just a breeze and fun process...

Look at how "brutish" this tank looks with all its oversized bolts and nuts.

Later i'll show the painting & decalling process of this tank.

Maybe after i post some of my completed build like the Titanic and the Abrams M1A2 Tank..

Dead Island: The most powerful game trailer ever!!!

Wow!!... its been a while since i last watched a good game trailer, but a few minutes ago i found this trailer for an upcoming game for the XBOX360, PS3 and PC... Dead Island...

This trailer really POWERFUL , full of emotions and i think its a very engaging to watch it like that...
The music, the character (a family + zombies), the composition, the graphics, all intertwined nicely in this 3-minutes goodness....

If you ever watch a movie entitled MOMENTO, then you understand this video since the trailer is in reverse order and that what makes this trailer is so good..

To start the day, i decided to create a new page dedicated to any reference/tips for Scale-Modeller like me. Since i'm still a beginner i just thought that i would need a place to put all the tips & technique that i find useful in 1 place for easy reference by me.

The Negotiator (1998) - one of my favorite movie

Last night while waiting for the decal to set on my KV-1 turret, i fired up my VLC Media Player for some movie and i saw this movie in my TO-RE-WATCH-LIST, so i did.

This is one of those movie that you need to watch a couple of times to really understand it (well for me at least) since the script is so brilliantly written for the movie. And to have both Kevin Spacey and Samuel L. Jackson in 1 movie is an instant watch for me.

For those that haven't watch the movie, now is the time to do so. It sure better than the recent Transformers III movie (although i still love TF3:DTM)

anyway... go find it on DVD somewhere.. although i doubt they still have it on the shelf..

Just a small update...

A friend text me this morning informing me that today is the official IPV6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) Day.
To learn more about IPV6 click Wikipedia :o)

I do believe that we need to move forward with the IPV6 since i think i read somewhere that the IPV4 is almost running out of number already (although i think the number is a lot already in IPV4).

The IPV6 also a mouthful to remember whereas the IPV4 is still remember-able..

Gap found!! WIP: Revell 1/144 Space Shuttle Discovery

Last night i work alittle bit on the shuttle mainly trying to get the slight warp on the cargo bay fixed.... by adding this support inside the cargo bay. Since the cargo bay will be closed so no worry about adding stuff in there..

After i'm done with the warping i test fir the cargo bay door... and as expected... i saw a big gap between the door hinges(??) with the side of the cargo bay...

still trying to figure out the best way to tackle this...

1. the first idea is to put a plastic strip on the inside of the cargo bay and then fill the gap with putty
2. To fill the gap with a plastic strip, and then fix the join with some putty
3. similar to step one.. but instead of using putty... use bondite.. err will bondite shrink over time?

Luckily the join on top of the cargo-bay door is OK... but maybe need to put some support on the inside before i glue them together.... which i need to do before i tacle the gap on the cargo bay... *sigh*...

that's it for now..

over the weekend will be busy with all the wedding invitation.. dont know if i have time to do this shuttle.

I found this a few minutes ago, and i found that this is a very useful video for modeller like me or anyone wanted to know more about Weathering with Pigments.

I for one never used pigments before in my build, just because i dont know how to properly apply it but after watching this video, i'm definitely going to try it on my next armor build....

In fact, watch all of his video, all feature a very nice and easy to follow tutorials regarding modelling especially on how to apply all those techniques that you read so much about on the internet.

WIP - sanding: Revell 1/144 Space Shuttle Discovery

After some sanding process last night...
here is the result.....

still need to touch-up here and there... also according to a fellow modeller from ARC (crowe-t), i maybe need to polish the window.

On top of that i also completed the assembly of the External Tank and also the SRB's.
Again a few gap & alignment occurs which i already treated with some putty and a little bit of sanding.

if you look closely, you might noticed that there are some "bling-bling" on the External tank, just ignore it for now since that is my so-called strap on the tank made using the pot-fixing-tape which i'll cover them later with Mr Surfacer.

Also in the above photo is the comparison on the size of this kit compared to the Gunze paint bottle.

Revell 1/144 Space Shuttle Discovery with Booster Rockets

1/144 Space Shuttle Discovery,

30 years of Space Shuttle program

When i was in the midst of rigging my Titanic last month, i have the urge to start a new project and after discovering that this year is the 30 Years anniversary of Space Shuttle program... i thought this is a appropriate time for me to start this.... (another reason is because the box is big, attract a not needed attention to my stash)

Anyway... i got a few options out of the box, but i choose Discovery because of a nice ring to the name and easy to spell.. but to be historically right, Discovery retired (although there are talks on not to retire it just yet) in March ahead of the Endeavor & Atlantis.

Moving on.. here is the box shot..

The first problem i encounter is the gap between the windscreen and the body... a quick fix is to use plastic strip chunk-ed in the gap and them let the glue cured.

After the glue cured.... i apply some Green putty, since this whole area (the windscreen) will be painted black.. so i just sand away and maybe try to repair it with some finer sanding later on.

also not that the nose joining also got some gap & misaligned, which putty will also saved the day ...

after this the dreaded sanding process.. which its been a while since i last doing any sanding on my kit.....

Scale Models Malaysia 2011: Awesome event!!!

Last Saturday, i was down in KL for the SMM 2011 event, and it was an awesome event (click me for detail)

With a total of 99 entries from various categories, it was the biggest entry for this event.
I was there with 7 of my models, hauled all the way from up-north in my car and i'm glad that the models survived the long journey ;o)

My entries are 1. RMS Titanic, 2. Kiowa Warrior Helicopter, 3. AAVP7A1 tank, 4. M1A2 Abrams, 5. Eagle transporter, 6. Star Wars ATAT Walker, 7. Tornado Gr1

I have a couple of shot from the event, but for now enjoy this..

I'm still recovering from the journey and it was a very worthwhile trip for me.. although i only there on the first day (Saturday), my modelling colleague informed me last night that some of my entries got a medal.
Once i got more detail i'll update in here.. :)

I'll post more photos in another entry after i processed it.

RMS Titanic is DONE!!!!

Little-Green-Pigeon ... not Little-Green-Men .. ok!!!

I shoot (with a camera not with a gun) this little bird outside my office sometime last week... just thought i share here..

the bird is called "Punai Daun" or Little Green Pigeon (Treron olax)

Apparently this is only a baby.. i believe it try to fly off a palm tree infront of the office and landed on the sidewalk...

when i snapped this photo, it just stand there and i got to "sapu" the head a few times.. which is very rare for this bird..

some of my officemate told me that this bird is really delicious... luckily i'm the one who found this bird.. else it will be in someone elses curry pot already :lol:

As some of the visitor to my blog already know by now.... there's another Scale Modelling event coming up in approx. 2 weeks... and i'm for one all geared for the event...

i continue on with this build with the process of rigging again...
a tiring process of the whole build.. since the threads are just so tiny and trying to tie-a-knot by using a tweezer is no fun at all... luckily there's SuperGlue that i can use ... although it helps but i also end-up in more than once.. manage to get my fingers "glued" to the tweezer!!!... painful...

anyway here is another round of photos for the rigging process...

after this i'll be putting the lifeboats and then maybe i call it done....
This ship is due in HHQ KL in May 21, 2011.... so come and see it live there..

ok back to the build....

Now the fun part of ship building.... rigging...

This is the first time ever i do rigging for ship (since never build ship before), using the included nylon thread in the kit (although i know that there's a good thread called Lycra that is very nice in scale compared to this nylon thread which a bit oversized).

so far so good but having a big fingers didnt help a bit... i need to use twizzers for the rigging and a bit of help from CA glue to make it stick.
enjoy the photos and next i'll post on the stand/base for the titanic.

Below is the antenna of the ship.. which will go on top of the 2 mast on the Titamic

The mess that the rigging created on the ship, but all will be rectified once the mast is assembled, These rigging will be connected to the masts.

First, dont get me wrong.. the title of the show does sound a little kinky and naughty but when you look at the spelling it does make sense...:o)

I really love this show, somehow this show makes me laugh from all their jokes.. in fact the latest 3 shows aired just a few minutes ago makes me laugh so hard until my stomach hurts and have tears in my eyes....:o)

i love their negotiation skill in getting the people that come to their shop to let go of stuff at the right price, and their way of doing it is what makes it so funny...

and to see their how they trying to get the right price for the right item that come to their shop is just hilarious.

Their interaction between each other also very fun to watch.

you should watch and see how Chumlee try to sell stuff and always being a man to test shooting old guns that they get from customer.

anyway, give this show a try and it usually airs every Monday from 9:30 until 11pm on History Channel (555).

and also wait for another great show after that... American Pickers... :D

Building the famous RMS Titanic - painting the parts

back to Titanic...

last week my compressor went kaput so all the mood for modelling kaput also.... now since i'll be getting the compressor back in a few days.. thought i share some of the progress *before* the compressor kaput...

The Funnel
The funnel already being painted with my own red + yellow mixture to make it orange...still i think i need to tone down the orange a bit more..

The Hull paint
Also since i dont have the Hull-Red paint.. need to mix the paint as suggested by the instruction.. 1 black + 2 red.. but it doesnt seem right.. so i add another portion of red.. and the result as follows...

The black paint is just a straight Flat Black
will need to clear coat this later

the Stand
i dont really fancy displaying the ship on the "peg-leg" provided with the kit.. so i'm going to spice it a little bit...

i really like those wooden block they use in dry-dock.. so i opt to use the same thing by using a real wood for it.. cut to size and use the original stand as the base.
Still i need to varnish the wood to make it more "stained". The base also need to be painted....

That should be it for now....

also the display case also done.. let see if i can complete the rigging etc by April 2nd... this will make an appearance during the SMM 2011

My Version: The story of a Malware Attack : Part Uno...

This is my version of the Malware Attack Story that this blog experience a couple of days back.

A few visitor alerted me of the "Blood Screen" warning like below from Mozilla..

i really have to praise them for being so brave and click the "Ignore This Warning" to enter my blog and alerted me via my SHoutbox... thank you very much!!.

Anyway, after i noticed about this i scourge the web trying to find an answer to whats happening this is when i find a link to use Google Webmaster Tool to detect the fault in my blog. Once you login to the tools page (using your Google Account),you need to "add" you blog to the Manage list and also you need to verify that the blog is yours by inserting 1 meta code in your header and then the Tools will do it thing.

After that the page will list out the possible "malware" existed in your blog like below..

As evident from the result i got this one link that causing all the problems, and all i have to do is find that "pesky" little link and remove it from my blog.

Then request a review from Google Webmaster Tools, within a few hours. If you no longer see the "Blood Screen" then you're ok.. else got something else in your blog.

For the "something else", i'll try to explain a bit in my next entry...

Day "minus 0.5" day: Post Malware Attack entry

Yesterday was a really dreaded day for my blog,
somehow i accidentally created an entry that have some code that deemed this site as an attack site...

According to http://onlinelinkscan.com/, my blog is now safe...

Still a bit paranoid of the whole process of recovering. This is my first post at minus 0.5 days after the attack and a bit paranoid and cautious so that i didnt put any more unwanted-codes in my blog.

I'll share the whole experience in a later entry...

Let see how this latest entry play out well to all the visitors.

Thanks to those that alerted me on the possible attack and been helping me test the blog accessibility.

Finally after a long wait and many model built, i finally got the chance to update my modelling website with some layout enhancement.

Building the famous RMS Titanic... - Dry fitted waiting for the LED..

A Small update..

i completed the major build for the Titanic...
the light-block already done except for the hulls and now trying to acquire some LED...

over-ambitious me think.. but if i dont do it now i dont know when else i'll got the courage to try it..
the only left unpainted are the cranes, the funnels and the hulls...
these will be done this week while i wait for the LED.

the frame already ordered.. now pending the glass casing since i dont know how high this ship will be...
in the mean time enjoy the photos and i'm back at watching the Titanic movie since i just got my hand on the EXTENDED version of the movie ahhaha

really need to get the mood going..
still got around 1 months to go.. need to hassle-up so that i can start on the railing once the LED is in place..

VB2010 - check for Null value in fields

This is a little Programming related.

Since i'm learning and refreshing my mind regarding to programming in VB2010, so this is a little something that i learned a few days back during my brainstorming session with my little applications that i'm creating.

Just thought i share a little bit of what i found.

You can use the "IIF" statement to do comparison checking to check if the fields value ISNULL or not.

IF the Value is null THEN
return BLANK value
else
fill with Value

In my application this is how i do it.

Building Eagle Transporter - COMPLETED!!

Finally after almost 3.5 weeks looking and working on this model, finally its done...

Now i can start seriously working on my RMS Titanic and my AT-AT Walker from Star Wars.

Its been a lot of fun working on this model and now i know that building a Sci-Fi themed subject is a lot of fun...

So this is ready for the Movie Mayhem GB in March 26, 2011. and whoever wanted to see this in person better mark your calendar since i'll be bring-in this model (+ my Titanic and AT-AT) for the event and it will travel around 480KM for the event.. :D

Just something i added to this blog to make the blog a little bit more organized.

From the origin of the site for the tutorial

I added a scroll Box to the bottom of the sidebar, this is merely a way for me to test out the functionality of the ScrollBox before i use it for the rest of the blog... more like a proof-of-concept for me.

I test on my "ANUGERAH" widget to the right bottom of the page.

Building Eagle Transporter - at 80% Completion

Updates!!!..Space 1999:Eagle Transporter

Sorry for the delay, got caught up with my "make a living" job, and only a few days ago got the chance to sit back and enjoy the hobby... and can continue with this Eagle Transporter.

This is where i'm at as of last night, all the parts painted and also applied a coat of Future as a preparation to decal this spaceship.

Under the retro-rockets to the side of the Eagle, i have to actually mask and spray some black there to replace the decal that was suppose to go there. the decal supplied with the kits is unusable so have to spray it.
Luckily it just a small spraying job.

Tonight i can proceed with decalling and then can give this model a wash with Turpentine + Oil Paints.

After that another coat of Satin then this is done. Now i can work on the Landing pad and then move on to my RMS Titanic.. :D

Windows 7 :The trust relationship between this workstation and primary domain failed

Just thought i add & share something that i found at work the other day.

It seems that Windows 7 have an issue with adding user to the Domain.
It will prompt an error like below:

The trust relationship between this workstation and primary domain failed...

when this happened you'll not be able to add the user from Domain to PC.

Actually there a hot fix for it issued by Microsoft..

You can read all about it here and then Request the fix, the link and password for the download will be emailed to you in a few second.

I also already added the link to my APPs TIPs pages for easy reference later.

1. Install the hotfix (it just a small download),
2. restart
3. add the user as usual from the domain

Building the famous RMS Titanic...

-- Perhaps one of the most famous sentences uttered in the whole 1997 movie Titanic by James Cameron.

Another build from me since my last build (the Space 1999: Eagle Transporter) is about to be completed soon.

This time around, i'll be building the famous RMS Titanic ship in 1/400 scale (about 2.3 feet long). This is the first ship build for me in this humongous scale. Dunno if i'm up to the challenge since this is a big plunge for me in ship modelling.

I bought this kit a few years back together with an Eduard PE to complement the ship detailing. And this build i target it to be completed by March 26, 2011. Overly ambitious? yes.. since my track record of building anything usually will take around 2-3 months to finish, but i'll try my very best o get ti competed in the time-frame. allocated.

The length of the kit hull. Compare it to the floor tiles (1x1 ft) and you can see the length of it is around 2.3ft.

Building Eagle Transporter from SPACE 1999 series

For those that lived in the 70's and 80's sure remember this classic TV Series; SPACE:1999.
read the Detail on Wiki...

in conjunction with another Group Build schedule in March 2011 in KL, i'll build another model just for the GB.

here is the box art... thanks to a fellow modeller - Landyshah@SMM for the photos.
and that is how the Eagle Transporter looks like in the TV Series.

For me this is a true design of a Spaceship :D

first order of business (after washing the plastic with dish soap to remove the moulding oil & dirt), is to cut the frame out.. since this ship suppose to have this frame exposed and showing the inside of it.

and a warning though.. this is no easy task!!

and to make matters worst.. i'll be using the manual drill... my wrist is now having a Carpal Tunnel Syndrome due to repeating motion of drilling...

i think by the time i'l done with this 4 frame... my arms would be 2 inches bigger :lol:

i also accidentally broke part of the frame in the process.. this will need to be scratchbuild later on...

and also you might note that the angle i'm drilling is not so nice on the 2nd frame since i tend to drill inward towards the frame as oppose to 90 deg. angle to the surface...

so the result is a "bergigi" frame!!!!

i really hope that some liquid putty would help hide the error on one of the frames...

so basically i'm 2 more frame to go ,.... let continue tonite shall we...

and these are the tools i'm using for the framing task!!!..

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "ITS ALIVE!!!"

ITS ALIVE!!!!..

finally after 1.5 months tinkering with this kit, its finally done and read to be deployed in the GB in KL..
although this will be another "virtual" entry since i cannot make it to the event this weekend.

But to show support, i manage to complete this build in record time...my personal record time.. hoorrreeeee for me!!!

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "Promodeller Wash!! "

I already can see the finish line for this "Tonka" (another name for Tornado) and its has been a very interesting progress...

Today we'll look at "wash", essentially i use was to make the panel-lines more visible and also to add some of the dirtiness of the aircraft, as real aircraft get really dirty in operation.

Here is the before and after photo of the was application.

Note from above how the panel-lines more "visible" after the application of the wash.

This Promodeller wash is very easy to use, all i need just to make sure the surface already being Gloss coat to make sure that the Wash will flow nicely into the panel-lines and will make cleaning the excess wash easier.

I apply with a small brush and wipe it afterward with a damp cutton-buds.

Later need to put another coat of gloss-coat to seal the wash, or else it might accidentally being remove during handling of the model.

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "Decal Completed... "

Sorry for the lack of updates.

The decal was completed a few nights ago and below is the finished product for the decal stage.

I only post the photos of the decal near the nose of the Tornado, since this is where the most decal is located..

As i mentioned before, the decal is a bit thick and a few layers of Future Floor Polish was used to make the decal stay on the kit... pretty tedious job.

I also have a few occasion where the decal peel out but luckily a coat of Future somehow solved the problem.

Noticed also that the ared near the gun-vent (in the middle of the shark teeth) need to be touch-up with a paint, which i already done.

Next step is to "wash" (dirty) the plane up using Promodeller "Dark" wash...

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "Decal WIP... "

Decal application is ongoing.!!

After preparing all the necessary solutions and "mindset" (yes!! need to have a clear mind to do decal, if your mind in a mess; STOP and get some fresh air before you proceed :o) ), it's time to begin the "interesting" step of "decorating" the Tornado.

Here is the decal that i'm going to apply on my Tornado, its a ferocious "smiling-shark" markings that is quite a sight during the Desert Storm air-campaign.

Around the gun-vent i need to touch-up a little bit with paint, somehow the decal not covering it properly.
The complete decal can be seen below.

If you look closely, you'll noticed that some part of the decal got some minor nudity on it, so with thinking that some minor might stumble upon this Tornado build, i decided to censor part of the decal. Practically i want to make this blog a "U" rating "EVERYONE".. :o)

I think the decal is a bit thick luckily for the use of Mr Softer, i manage to get it to conform to the curves and panel-lines perfectly..

Also i noticed (after its too late to rectify) that the shark-teeth got an xtra bit of "teeth" on it... thus making the "smile" a bit longer and does give me a bit of a problem with the kill-marking application.

I'll think of a way to overcome this and update in my next entry.

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "Decal Preparation ... "

Before i proceed with the decal progress of my Panavia Tornado "Gulf Killer"

i just want to share my working station for the decal process...

First the most essential tools during the decal process (for me at least):

As the name indicated: Mr Mark Softer & Mr. Mark Setter

Mr Mark Setter = to prepare the surface to accept the decal.
Mr Mark Softer = to make the decal "softer" so that it will conform to the surface of the model better.

i usually would use Mr setter on the surface, once the decal is applied on the surface, i would use the Softer on top of it before i seal the whole thing with FUTURE Floor Polish .

Here is the whole setup at my Decal Station.

In the next entry, i'll post the progress of my Panavia Tornado decal.
One of the most interesting part of the build where the decal (markings) will add more variety to the plane..

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "ECM Pods ... "

Another round... as i try to keep the momentum going...

last night i painted the 500lbs bomb & the fuel tank & the various pods.. (Sky Shadow ECM & the BOZ-107 Flare dispenser)

All these will be hanged under the wings and belly of the tornado.

the 500lbs bomb i painted using Gunze Green paint while the pods i use the same mix as my Tornado body paint (mixture of Dark yellow + a bit or red).

The Fuel tank is first painted using the grey and then camoed with the same Green as the bomb.

I only need to paint the missile at the back with white.. then we can proceed to decal over the weekend.. :D

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "More Chipping... "

Continue on with the build.

As referring to my previous update, a few of my modelling colleague suggested me to add more small paint chipping effect to the model.

So armed with my fine-tip-brush and an Olive-green Vallejo paint, i begin the extra-chipping process.

After a few minutes, here is the result.

Also noted that the inside of the speed brakes also already being sprayed with Light Grey paint.

Of course, all this already being sealed with a coat of FUTURE.

And this is the Vallejo paint i used earlier, but the paint should be Olive Green, the photo here just to show how the Vallejo Paint looks like. Its a very easy paint to apply using brush. Which reminds me to restock some of the paint later on.

Looks ok to my eyes.. :D

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "Chipping & Future"

Another round of update:

Paint chipping on a regularly used aircraft is normal, so i try to replicate this in my build as well and this is the first time i'm doing it.

I'll be using a product called "Masking Sol" to cover the previous paint (from the pre-shade process) to show the paint underneath once i remove the final layer of paint from the chipped area.

The yellow tape above is to protect the surrounding area around the airbrake base once i begin to spray the paint there (this will be done tonight). Note the paint chipping on the Horizontal Stabilizer.

Also i'll be hand brushing a coat of "FUTURE" (floor wax) to cover the paint job on my aircraft also act as a preparation for my decalling process.

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "Final Paint Layer"

In light of the last paint layer, a few of my modelling colleague commented that my panel-lines need to be covered a lil bit more so that it wouldn't too "pronounce".

So due to that suggestion, i mixed up another paint mixture but this time i tone the red-color down a few drops (so the color will have more yellow in it) and begin spraying the final layer to cover some of the panel lines (noted: some not all, if cover all the panel-lines then what the purpose of me doing the pre-shades earlier, right?) :D

Thanks to my modelling buddies for the suggestions.

and below is the result of the final paint layer.

First is the side by side comparison of the paint layer.

The one on the right have the red color tone down by a few notch and also noted that the panel lines are less visible now.

Now there rest of the aircraft.

Next, this Panavia Tornado will undergo a FUTURE (floor cleaner) bath and some detail painting such as the landing wheel bay, radome and exhaust.

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "Painting Base Color"

Updates:

i was on a break last week, so; sorry to those that stop by and wanted to see the updates on my Tornado.

But yesterday i have a very productive day (although i did have an issue with my handpiece not working properly due to a clogged nozzle and uncontrollable air flow).

Finally the Tornado got the paint done already and below is the result.

I use Tamiya Dark Yellow (XF-60) mix with a few drops of Tamiya Flat Red (XF-7).

From my eyes and my reference, this looks like a close-enough match for the paint on the real aircraft.

So i'll settle to this color for now.

Noted that the inside of the airbrake is not yet painted, i'll get to it later tonight.

The same goes to the inside of the wheel bay (front and rear)

Also will masked the radome and paint it gloss black later on.

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - "Pre-shading"

Another updates:

Last night i manage to do pre-shading on the tornado.

This time i use Dark-green instead of the regular black.

The reason for pre-shading is to make the recess line darker as compared to the overall color as evident on a real aircraft.

On real aircraft, the panel lines will be slightly darker so pre-shading will give the impression of the same effect on the model.

And i use my handpiece to make the line by using a low pressure and make sure the handpiece nozzle as close as possible to the panel line on the model.

For some unknown reason, my hands are not steady as they used to, so the resulted panel lines (pre-shading) is a bit wavy lines...

The result of the pre-shading makes the model looks dirty now, but on the next step this will be "rectified" by the camo color of the aircraft.

As promised,

over the weekend i manage to complete the "Priming" of the Tornado.

Here is the result.

So tonight i can continue with the "Pre-shading" process.

Pre-shading will make the aircraft dirty again :D

I'll pre-shade it with a dark-grey paint which is out of the norm for me as i usually would use black for the preshade process.

i'll explain more with photos tomorrow for better understanding.

in the mean time, here is another shot of the Tornado after priming.

Looks smooth and clean.

Sneaking into my Modelling Room :Kuman's Workbench....

Today we take a sneak-peek into my Modelling Room or Workbench...

(seen here with my Panavia Tornado in the works)

This is where all the modelling action is and not many people are allowed to play in this room (especially if i'm not around) due to the below reasons:

Sharp objects (all those cutter, knifes, nipper)
Hazardous substances (all the putty, thinner, IPO, glue)
Plastic dust (when i'm sanding)
Paints particle (when i'm airbrushing my model)

Whenever i'm airbrushing or sanding the model, i will switch on the fan for ventilation and i'll wear my "nuclear" safety respirator.

The ventilation fan is a must switch-on when i'm in the room.

And if i'm away, all those tools and glues will be safely kept in my drawer to ensure safety for the kids in the house. I dont want them messing in my room and hurt themselves in the process.

But i do let them in when i'm just doing a simple "put-together" which is sometimes the kids will be my biggest critic.

(some other WIP i have on the workbench ATM)

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - Ready for "Priming"

Another round of updates..

With roughly around 1 month till the due date, my Panavia Tornado GR MK1 "Gulf Killer" is progressing at a nice and steady pace.

Now i'm getting ready the plane for a "priming" stage by covering the aircraft with a layer of Mr Surfacer 1000.

Currently this model is a bit boring to look at since all we see is only the plain, grey color of the plastic.
This will start to changes once its been primed.

This stage (priming) serves 2 important purposes:
1. Checking for flaws in the join and also if any gaps needed to be covered plus this also will make all the scratches visible. Thus would help in repairing the flaws.

2. Set as a layer of surface for the final paint to "bite" into, so there will not be any nasty surprise at the final painting stage (such as paint peeling after masking etc). Also will help make the subsequent color "stick" more effectively.

Hopefully in the next few days, i'll be able to prime this bird and move on to the next stage..

Why my blog must be in the "Project Disember DJ2B"

Hope it’s not too late since I just learned about this a few hours ago and surprisingly the due date is midnight tonight (December 1^st, 2010)!!

Here goes nothing…

As an effort to introduce the Scale Modeling to the masses (thus sharing my hobby and passion), I reorganized and give my blog a quick jolt from its regular posting behavior and style.

Resulting from that, beginning from November 4^th, 2010; I switch my blog back to the initial intention (when I first open this blog back in 2005) of promoting the hobby of Scale Modeling to the people and use this blog as a medium to share my hobby and also help me improve my English.

That’s the reason why from November 4^th, 2010; all my entry is in English and only revolved around Plastics Scale Modeling.

1. Not many people know about this hobby of mine, often my colleague and neighbor would give me a funny look when they step in my house and saw all these aircraft tanks & ships grace my display cabinet in the living hall. I will need to explain about it saying that this is not a toy and “no” they don’t fly. And my kids also never play with it.
2. By being featured in this “Projek Disember DJ2B”, I’m hoping that more people will be able to appreciate and enjoy this hobby and have a greater appreciation and understanding for this hobby and “arts”.
3. I also noticed that ever since I make a shift from my regular posting pre November 4^th, the number of visitors is declining as very obviously shown by the attached graph from Nuffnang. But again I’m really thankful (Alhamdullilah syukur) that some of the “virtual” friends I make during my 2 months stint of active posting, keep coming back and read about my new venture in blogging.

4. In the near future, expect to see more stuff being featured in my blog such as a Titanic ship (yes!! The ship that sunk and where Jack drew Rose “wearing this, only this”), more aircraft and more tanks & armored vehicles.
5. Also tips and tricks that I encounter in my building process.

Pick kumanx.blogspot.com as one of the 31 lucky blog for the “Projek Disember DJ2B” and hopefully people can learn and know a bit more about this hobby.

Hopefully by better exposure and review, more people can learn and get to know of this wonderful hobby.

MH-60K Blackhawk SOAR: Completing the helicopter

I took a break from my Panavia Tornado Gr MK1 build and continue with this helicopter which is now delayed at the decalling stage.

This helicopter also would go well with my previous helicopter build which is the OH-58D "Kiowa Warrior".

So last couple of nights, i take this one out from the display cabinet and start to dry-fit the miscellaneous things that i need to make it to the finishing stage.

Still need to get the external fuel tanks and the rotor on the helicopter before i can proceed with attaching the wheels.

Noticed that at the bottom left is the emblem of the unit "NightStalkers"

So this is where the helo is at the moment and will try to finish attaching the parts together by this week and have it ready for display by next week.

hopefully i dont get distracted again this week and be able to finish this MH-60K Blackhawk SOAR helicopter

Murfies Modelling Mandates: Applies to all Scale Modeller......

There once was a guy named Murphy and he devised rules for almost everything in life and got a chuckle from most who tried to obey.

There were Murphy's Military Laws, Murphy's Love Laws, Murphy's Sex Laws and Murphy's Technology Laws...

But he never got into scale modeling leaving many of us without direction in pulling together our creations.

Then along came Murfie...

1. Built into every modeler’s workbench is a black hole that swallows parts. Only on rare occasions will the modeler ever see that part again though he may hear it rattling through the vacuum cleaner.
1. Only highly detailed scratch built parts or those with no replacement fall into this hole.
2. The probability of dropping your most needed part is inversely proportional to the size of the part.
3. The closer the color of your part matches the color of the carpet (that’s right no sound will give away the location) the more likely you will drop it.
4. Once dropped, your treasured part will bounce immediately to the most inaccessible area of the room covering a horizontal distance equal to the length of the drop multiplied by the time spent in searching.
5. A dropped X-acto knife will always fall point first and contrary to (d.), the blade point will find your foot. It will not bounce.
6. The moment you cease your search for a dropped part, you will step on it.

2. The amount of time it takes to build a kit is equal to the sum of the time spent in research plus the number of plan pages multiplied by the number of parts less the time it takes for the glue to dry.
1. The more un-built kits you have on shelves, the fewer kits you will actually complete.
2. Your un-built kits will expand inversely proportional to the tightness with which they are packed.
3. Reference materials, magazines and plans will increase in volume inversely proportional to the available space.

3. Regardless of your bench’s dimensions in feet, your work space will be done in a five-inch square just inside the front lip.
4. The minute you purchase a new $9 modeling tool, you will find it in the Dollar Store in a pack of three.
5. Regardless of your method for sealing paint containers you will find it has dried out two days prior to its intended use.
6. The amount you pay for a new paint brush is directly proportional to the number of weeks it will contain dried paint.
7. All kit manufacturers are committed to an association directive to hold new releases until six months after they have been scratch built at least six times.
8. The odds the paint will go in the wrong place are in direct proportion to the number of hours spent building what ever it is you're painting.
9. The chances of the large part falling painted side down are directly proportional to the cost of the carpet.
10. The absolute need for a lost part increases exponentially with the need to finish a model

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - Pods Loadout

Back again with a minuscule update on this build.

Been busy the last couple of days and i only manage to complete a small portion of the build and this time the pods loadout.

This will be hanged on all the hard-points under the Tornado.

These missiles are still not "cleaned" as apparent by some of the flash and melted plastics that oozed out from the joins are not properly removed.

I'll get to it later.

Modelling RAF Tornado Gr1 - Desert Storm - Part 1

Been busy the last couple of days, and this is where i'm at with this project as of last nite 10pm.

Most of the major assemblies are done and attached to the fuselage.

The Instrument Panel also done and also i did add a few fine wires to the back of the seat to add a few more realism to the build (as my reference photos shows this wiring-i just have to add something to follow).
When attaching the front portion of the fuselage to the rear section, a latter is a few mm wider than the front fuselage, so next i'll apply some putty to help level the joins.
I'm also working on the intake cover, and i'll be using the facial tissue + white glue to make the cover.

Next:

Finish the intake cover, only then i can attach the intake to the fuselage
Primed the plane with Mr Surfacer 1000

until then enjoy the photos.

Building MiniHobby AAV-7A1 with EAAK (Part 8 - FINAL) - COMPLETED

This is it, finally this build is completed last night.

After a few months of tinkering and adjusting and building the AAVP-7A1, i finally can claim another addition to my display cabinet at home.

This AAVP already being submitted (the photo only for a "virtual"entry) to the Group Build committee and the event will be held tomorrow. So if anyone is in town tomorrow, do give them a visit at HHQ.

I learned a lot in the progress of building this model and noted that this is my first time building it with a dio-base.. pretty awesome step and i'll continue doing this in the future, no doubt about it.. :D

If anyone need more information on this build, please ask away either in the shoutbox or leave a comments, i'll promptly answer any questions wherever i can.. :D

Building MiniHobby AAV-7A1 with EAAK (Part 7) - Rolled Canvas

UPDATES: PART 7 (Rolled Canvas)

Facial tissue - as the canvas
White glue - to hold the shape
Masking tape - strap

- Shape the tissue to a tube (if want to make it rolled) or fold it normally (if you want to make it as a folded canvas)
- I did both, and then use the masking tape as a strap.
- Dilute the white glue with water and then brush it on the canvas.
- Let it dry and then apply base color for it, flat coat it, do a "wash" and you done...

Building MiniHobby AAV-7A1 with EAAK (Part 6) - Accessories

The last few days, i've been busy giving my AAV-7A1 its finishing touches to make it ready for the Group Build on November 20, 2010 (this ENTRY)

So, as a progress, i've finish creating a wooden pallet to put on the tank as to show that its carrying a lot of load & supplies for the troops.

All were created from scratch using only :

plastic-sheet, (for the wooden pallet)
normal gauze, (for netting)
some white glue, (to make everything stay in place)
some masking tape (as strap)
some fine wire (as barbwire)
some capacitors from broken Power Supply (for the drums)

The RAF Tornado GR-1 "Gulf Killer" from the 20th Squadron of Tabuk Airbase Saudi Arabia.

Deployed for Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

This build is to give support to the local modelling society Group Build: Operation Desert Storm which will be held in January 2011. A few months away and the time is not on my side..

As usual, before beginning any new project, i would do some research for the subject and this will be the first time i posted the resources in my blog for ease of referring and updating. Also at the same time hopefully this will help other modeler as well.

Just dont get any funny idea to try and print out the ads and try to make a papercraft model out of the ads...

the build is closing to the end already (but not quite)

i heed the advise of some of you guys to really make the track dirty.
So i make some adjustment and below is the result so far..

and the tank is glued to the base already.... no turning back now..

i'm thinking of making this as a stuck-in-mud-base.... since i think that put a lot more mud on the track as i originally intended.

so maybe i'll add some tow chain to the from of the tank to show that this tank is in the process of moving out from the muddy river bank...

NEXT: i need to add some antenna and paint those darn chains..
then i can call it done...

Moving along
now i update a lil bit the base since i'm not quite satisfied with the previous result.
it looks to bare and too clean..

also note that i also added a few tree (mock-up tree of course).

This tree will be painted soon since to make it match the scale of the whole base.

This is the rear view of the tank on the base, this portion also will need to be dirtied a bit more..

The track that have contact with the base also received a much needed weathering to match the base color.

Al-kisah.... . adalah satu kampung ni..nama kampung
ni Kampung Pinang 18 Batang. kat kampung ni orang
ramai idup aman dan bahagia.

Dalam kampung yang aman ni... ada la sorang laki ni.

Nama dia Ali(nama sebenar). Ali ni orang gila kat kampung
ni. So... ramai la yang pandang slag kat dia.
Ramai la yang suka memainkan dia.. nak dijadikan
cerita...

Pada suatu hari...

si Ali ni gi la masjid nak semayang jumaat... ey... ni educated nyer orang
gila tau... semayang tak tinggal.

Contohi lah dia ni.
Sedangkan orang gila pun semayang... korang
yang siuman ni pun semayang la gak ek... ok,
sambung citer.

Lepas si Ali ni semayang jumaat, dia nak balik la
kan. So... masa dia nak balik tu tetiba dia tengok
selipar jepun kesayangannye dah takdek. Aper
lagi... mengamuk la dia...

Tanpa segan silu dia pun pegi la dekat mikrofon
masjid tu lalu dia pun berkata:

"kepada sesiapa yang mencuri selipar aku, baik ko pulang
cepat.!!!!!! !..."

Semua orang menjadi takut... ye la... orang gila
kan... memacam dia buleh buat. Buatnya dia tetak
anak bini orang kang... ha... naya..

"kepada siapa yang curik selipa kesayangan aku tu...
baik ko pulang cepat. Kalau tak aku akan buat
seperti mana ayah aku buat!!!"

lalu orang yang curik tu pun pulang la balik.

"nah la bang... gurau jek"

Tapi Ali memandang nyer dgn muka yang serius...
muka macam nak makan orang gitu... haa... lalu
budak yang curi selipa dia tu pun blah tanpa
memandang ke arah Ali... takut la tue... lalu tok
imam pun menegur Ali dan bertanya;

"kalau dia tak pulang apa yang akan kamu lakukan..?? apa yang
ayah kamu lakukan..??"

dengan suara dan wajah yang slamber..Ali pun berkata

"saya balik kaki ayam la tok.."

Jangan marah!!!

Akhirnya Cik Ti tewas ...

Pada yang dok ikut blog aku nih sure ada baca pasai opis aku diserang cencurut kan?
Nak refresh baca sini..

So akhirnya pagi tadi, tewas lah sidah Cik Ti di tangan "gam tikus".

Rupanya bukan cencurut, tapi tikus rumah yang agak besar.

mengikut kata encik Rentokil tadi, tertangkapnya seekor kumpulan Cik Ti nih,
kami harus expect serangan kedua dari geng-geng Cik Ti ni yang tak berpuas hati sebab kawan mereka tertangkap & possibly terkorban.

Ada juga aku dengar cerita yang Cik Ti ni pendendam dan akan buat lagi teruk kalau kita marahkan dia.

So hari ni sekali lagi semua orang dalam opis aku clear semua makanan..

Warkah Sedih Seorang Bapa….

Dah lama dah kisah nih, tapi tiap kali aku baca tiap kali tu juga air mata rasa bertakung.

Tak berniat untuk melukakan hati sesapa cuma berkongsi kisah yang amat menyayat hati dan luahan sedih seorang bapa.

Aku dapat nih dari email aku rasanya beberapa bulan yang lepas.

Agak panjang tapi sangat menyayat hati..

Al-fatihah untuk baby Alesha Abriza.

A'kum w.b.t...

Setelah bertarung dengan penyakit yang secara purata pengidapnya hanya dapat bertahan setakat 2 minggu selepas dilahirkan (hypophosphatasia-komplikasi dengan kandungan kalsium dalam tulang belakang), akhirnya perjuangan Alesha Abriza, satu-satunya permata hatiku berakhir sebaik sahaja azan subuh 13 Mei 2006 (15 Rabiulakhir 1427) berakhir.

Pada subuh itu, genap usianya 150 hari di muka bumi ini. Dari jumlah itu, hanya 2 hari beliau berada disisi kami di rumah dan selebihnya di wad NICU Hospital Putrajaya dan Hospital Seremban.

Alesha tetap memberikan senyuman kepada kami disaat-saat akhir kehidupannya. Beliau tidak pernah menyusahkan kami malahan doktor dan jururawat yang merawatnya.

Dimalam terakhir hayatnya, Alesha langsung tidak menganggu kami. Sepanjang malam itu, Alesha tidur dengan amannya. Pada pukul 4.40 pagi, Alesha mulai menunjukkan tanda-tanda akan meninggalkan kami selamanya. Tubuh badannya mulai membiru dan menjadi sejuk.. Pihak hospital memberikan ruang kepada kami anak beranak untuk bersendirian. Kami bertiga, Alesha, isteriku dan aku sendiri berpelukkan dan membisikkan kalimah tauhid di telinganya.

Sejenak sebelum Alesha menghembuskan nafasnya, azan subuh berkumandang. Isteriku memohon pada Alesha, katanya: "Lesha sebelum pergi senyumlah pada mama... mama dan papa redha Alesha pergi... senyumlah sayang". Kata-kata itu akan menjadi tangkal bagi saya selama-lamanya.
Seolah-olahnya Alesha Abriza faham akan permintaan dari ibunya itu. Alesha telah menoleh pada ibunya, memberikan sekuntum senyuman yang paling manis buat ibunya, jelas juga kelihatan setitik air matanya mengalir di penjuru matanya, sebelum nafas terakhirnya diragut! Maka sempurnalah sudah rahmat Allah kepada hambaNya pada pagi itu.

Impian isteriku untuk memandikan Alesha akhirnya terlaksana jua setelah tidak berkesempatan memandikannya sewaktu hayat Alesha. Pagi itu, jenazah Alesha dimandikan sendiri oleh ibunya. Sebaik sahaja jenazah Alesha dikapankan, kami telah dibenarkan untuk menciumnya. Sungguh tidak tertahan-tahankan air mataku mengalir ketika mencium dahi kecil Alesha dan membisikkan kata-kata tauhid di telinga arwah serta menyatakan bertapa aku terlalu sayangkannya, aku redha pemergiannya dan aku akan terus menganggapnya sebagai anak sulungku selamanya!

Sewaktu jenazah disolatkan, ramai yang memohon agar aku sendiri mengimamkan solat jenazah. Namun aku takut tidak termampu nanti untuk membaca ayat-ayat Allah dengan betul mahupun takut tidak termampu untuk membaca doanya kerana terlalu pilu. Aku cuma mampu berdiri di shaf hadapan sahaja ketika itu. Bersolatpun dengan cucuran air mata yang tidak tertahan-tahan. Satu kejadian yang kurasakan istimewa pada masa itu adalah, sebaik imam mengangkat takbir, hujan turun dalam suasana mendung. Seakan-akan menangisi pemergian seorang bidadari syurga. Hujan tersebut betul-betul terhenti sebaik sahaja jenazah selamat dikuburkan dan doa arwah selesai dibacakan!. Mungkin itu satu petanda rahmat dari Allah untuk bayi yang tidak berdosa itu.

Di tanah kuburan, aku sendiri menyempurnakan pengebumian arwah. Aku sendiri menunggu arwah di liang lahad, aku sendiri melonggarkan ikatan kain kafannya, dan aku sendiri membuka penutup mukanya. Saat itu, saat ku buka penutup muka arwah, jelas kelihatan rupa Alesha yang tersenyum. Satu senyuman yang maha indahnya. Muka Alesha juga amat cantik dan berseri-seri. Indah bercahaya rupanya sehinggakan tika aku merapatkan mukanya ke tanah di dalam lubang lahatnya, masih jelas kelihatan cahaya dari mukanya.
Satu lagi peristiwa yang kurasakan agar istimewa berlaku.

Tika kuburan selesai ditutup, saat menunggu imam membacakan doa bagi arwah (talkin tidak dibacakan kerana Alesha seorang bayi), jelas kedengaran di telingaku suara seseorang berkata: "Dua bidadari syurga sedang menunggunya... janganlah kamu risau." Suara itu amat jelas kedengaran seolah-olah bercakap kepada semua yang hadir pada masa itu. Selesai pengebumian, saya bertanya pada isteri dan ahli keluarga semuanya tidak mendengarkannya. Semoga, Alesha beroleh rahmat Allah.

Saya bersyukur kerana diberikan peluang untuk menjadi seorang ayah, walaupun hanya seketika. Saya berpeluang merasa menjaga isteri ketika mengandung dan berpantang. Semua pengalaman itu telah menjadi rahmat yang tidak terhingga dari Allah. Insyallah, saya masih bersedia untuk mengulanginya.

Tulisan di langit: aku experience dulu..

Pada tahun 1992 (exact date aku tak ingat),

aku sendiri experience nampak tulisan di langit nih.

Seingat aku masa tu blackout kat asrama sekolah aku tu, so kebanyakan pelajar akan lepak kat tengah-tengah block atas court badminton tu sambil sembang-sembang (sbb tak leh nak study).
Tengah lepask-lepak tu, ada sorang pelajar cakap...

"Weh!! awan ada tulisan Allah!! tengok tu!!" sambil tuding kat langit.
Bila aku tengok memang itu la yang aku nampak. Macam tayangan slide bertukar-tukar dilangit.

Seingat aku bila peristiwa ni dihebahkan... ada yang kata ia adalah "propaganda" dan khayalan semata. Tapi aku memang nampak sendiri "pertunjukan" tu.

Dan aku still ingat pada malam tu, semua yang menyaksikan kejadian tu tidur dalam keadaan penuh keinsafan.
Ada yang tak tidur sampai kepagi sebab mengaji Al-Quran dsb.

Yang cuba untuk tidur tak dapat melelapkan mata, dan esoknya di kelas, hampir 80% pelajar perempuan yg mana free-hair sebelum nih pakai tudung.

Bila aku cerita kat orang pasai kejadian tu, mesti meremang bulu roma aku sebab still terasa keajaiban kejadian tersebut.

Cencurut menyerang opis.. beware..!!

Tadi staff-staff wanita kecoh satu opis sebab semua bekalan makanan dalam laci abis dirobek si cencurut...

nampak macam digigit lipas rupanya cencurut sebab disahkan dengan penemuan najis berselerakan..

So tadi semua orang buat 5S kat laci meja masing-masing dah buang semua yg terlibat...
tetambah pulak ada laci yg turut menjadi bilik air pada cencurut nih..

Aku pun ada gak notice biskut aku ada lubang kecik, tapi aku tak makan la biskut tu.

Lepas pada tu berbagai-bagai teori diutarakan
dan sorang Manager nih suggest supaya kita act natural...
sebab cencurut nih tak boleh kita marah,
kalau kita marah lagi la dia bermaharajalela.

So semua act natural ajerla....
ni boss jepun tak tau lagi.
Kalau depa tau srue depa akan haramkan makan kat dalam opis.. naya la camtu..

walaubagaimanapun, pihak Rentokil pest control dah dihubungi dan akan singgah petang karang untuk process pencegahan..

Bermalasan sebelum beradu..Survivor Micronesia: Baru keluar TV?

Nih aku bermalasan sessi malam pulak.
ingat nak beradu awal la kononnya,

alih alih aku tekan ch107 (NTV7), ada pulak baru start cerita Survivor Micronesia (Fans Vs Favourites).

Aku ingatkan yg baru, rupa-rupanya dah lama dah...
nih Survivor 16 dan disiarkan pada tahun 2008... dah 2 tahun yg lepas dah.

Sekarang dah Survivor 21: NIcaragua dah...
dulu aku memang fan Survivor nih.. tapi bila dah banyak kali , jadi muak la pulak

Tapi TV kat Malaysia memang jarang siarkan sampai habis pun Survivor nih dan tak consistent, so itu adalah antara sebab pasai pa aku tak follow sangat dah.

Yg baru aku tengok kat TV tadi pun dah lama so semangat nak tengok mmg takde.

So nampaknya aku kena beradu dulu la...
harap-harap esok tak ler terbawa-bawa mood bermalasan yg sepanjang hari nih :)

Baca lagi pasai Survivor ni kat Wikipedia Survivor-, tapi ingat senarai pemenang pun ada kat sana.. so pada sesapa yg rasa nak follow Survivor Micronesia nih.. jgn click.. :)

Bermalasan layan cerita "The Unit"

Hari ni aku bermalasan kat rumah,

ntah nape ntah tade mood nak sambung buat VB coding.. hampes tul laa..
+ aku hari nih jadi househusband.... basuh kain, cuci aquarium, mop lantai & jadi pengasuh anak-anak :o)

Mood nak buat model aku pun ada la sikit.. so just touch-up sesikit base yang aku dok buat tu..
(AAVP7A1 + EAAK model tu)

sambil-sambil tu aku dok layan cerita THE UNIT yang aku dok download.
Sebenaqnya kat TV Astro pun ada kat Channel FOX 710 jam 10:55pm & rerun Non-Stop Weekend pun ada aku rasa.
CUma aku nih jenis yg tak sabaq bila tengok cerita kat TV nak cepat habis... so since line internet pun ok..
aku download la... cepat sikit...

Nak tau cite tu pasai apa... meh baca kat Wikipedia..

Pada aku cite ni ok la sbb ada banyak gunfighting.. terasa cam main game lak...
ok la nak sambung episode 9 lak nih..

Insyallah nanti aku buat entry pasai aku p Zoo Taiping tu..

Keletihan tapi best tengok anak-anak & mak anak (walaupun tak brapa suka binatang berbulu) suka hati

Kejahilan tahap gaban!! terlampau!!

utuk santai-santai minda dipagi sabtu cuti nih

Di sebuah kg ada 3 org remaja yg suka lepak.

Sorang tu nama dia Ali, sorang tu Budin dan sorang lagi Ciko.

Aktiviti seharian depa ni menybbkan tok imam x senang duduk.

Pd satu hari tok imam tu dtg dg niat nak tarbiyah depa ni.

Maka berlakulah bbrp insiden cabar-mencabar.

Tok imam tu cabar si mangkuk 3 ekor tu ke surau waktu Maghrib nnt.

Si Ali pun berkata, "Tok imam ingat kami ni jahil sangat ke? Takpa, nnt kami
buktikan yg kami bkn la jahil sgt spt yg disangkakan" .

Maka apb hampir masuk waktu Maghrib pegilah malaun 3 ekor tu ke
surau.

Tok imam pun suruh Ali azan. Tanpa berlengah terus je Ali azan,

"Allah Ta'ala... Allah Ta'ala..."

Dgn segera tok imam merampas mikrofon drp Ali; dan menyuruh tok bilal azan semula.

Terselah kejahilan Ali.

Selepas iqamat, masa nak sembahyang tok imam pun mengangkat takbiratul ihram.

Tok imam pun satu hal, angkat sekali x khusyuk, angkat 2x pun x khusyuk jgk lg..

Masuk je kali ketiga, Budin panggil tok imam.

"Tok,tok duduk kat belakang, biar saya jadi imam."

Tok imam pun undur le ke belakang.

Budin pun angkat le takbiratul ihram.

"Allahu akbar!" Maka para makmum pun ikut angkat takbiratul ihram & memulakan solat.

Tiba2 je si Budin ni pusing ke belakang dan berkata,

"Aa, tengok! Sekali jee tokkkk!!"

lalu batallah solat Budin. Yg lain2 pun ikut berenti sambil ketawa terbhk2.
Tok imam pun mintak pulak si Ciko jadi imam. Si Ciko pun terus ke depan
jadi imam solat tersebut bermula dari takbir sampai le habis sembahyang.

Siap dg wirid2nya sekali. Punyalah respek tok imam kat si Ciko niii...
Lepas solat, tok imam pun puji-memuji leee si Ciko ni...

Tapi dg bongkaknye si Ciko berkata,

"He hee, itu belum ambil wuduk lagi tu. Kalau tak, lagi dassat aku semayang. He heee..."

Tok imam pun terkedu & terpana...

Jalan-jalan ke Zoo Taiping

Esok pagi jam 9 aku akan ikut rombongan tadika anak aku ke Zoo Taiping.
Tapi aku ikut dengan kereta aku sendiri sebab ramia yg nak mengikut....
maklumla kan.. kalau ikut rombongan, tiket masuk murah sikit.... so bleh la join sekali.

Target bertolak jam 9 pagi, so malam ni kena lena awai sikit.

Tu yang kat rumah tu dah dok plan nak tengok "kura-kura tinggi" (Zirafah)
ntah kenapa la anak aku yg tadika nih panggil "kura-kura tinggi", mugkin sebab shell kura-kura kan berketak-ketak pastu patten zirafah kan berketak-ketak gak ehheh

Harap-harap esok tak hujan (kan Taiping antara kawasan yg paling lembab di Malaysia).

Insyallah nanti aku buat entry pasai tu.. :)
