Trumpeter 1/32 A-10 2-seater N/aw - Completing It- W.I.P #1

It's very rare that someone pass to you his whole stash for you to finish it... and i'm one of the lucky few that was given an opportunity to owned such a stash..

i received around 20 boxes of kits in various conditions and scales and one of those is this BIG A-10A N/AW (2-seater tank in the sky) - (also a single seater A-10, that is for another time :o) )

my friend had joined the fuselage and have all the part glued together... but the cockpit are not in the fuselage yet.. so my task is to get it inside without much the needs for extensive surgery.

Lucky for me...it'll be easy to do so without much surgery... i guess.

A-10 kit is known for its tail-sitting-ness..

this one is no exception... so after using 15 of these fishing weight.. i manage to get it to sit properly.

and the amount of fishing-weight i use in the fuselage..

and cover it with some sticky stuff..

next will be the ejection seat :)

F-16C: "The Flying Razorbacks" Arkansas ANG (The Unfinished Business Campaign) - COMPLETED!!

F-16C: "The Flying Razorbacks" Arkansas ANG (The Unfinished Business Campaign)

1/48 Academy F-16C: Fighting Falcon "The Flying Razorbacks"

After years of procrastinating on finishing this.. Armorama created a campaign (Unfinished Business Campaign) whereby members need to complete their uncompleted kits (due to many reasons) and i heed the call and get this done..:D

This was actually part of a 3 F-16c that i wanted to build simultaneously for a local Viper GB, but never get around to finish them in time.

The WIP can be viewed at my local forum thread... 2 of them...

WIP#1
WIP#2

anyway... its done now... and i need to check the other 2 of the F-16 that also need my attention..

its missing a pitot over the years.. but it is done..

i have another one for the campaign... Panda Models X-35B.. will post that next,,

Zhengdefu 1/48 EF-111A Raven: One scary kit (WIP#2) - painting done..

In the name of progress.. i continue..

completed the paint job on the fuselage and continue masking the "wing-glove-thing" (i really dont know what its called)..

Next to take the mask-off and clear coat... to make it ready for the panel shading-masking-process.... need to break the monotonous of the grey on the fuselage... no reference just some random panel i guess....

most likely will use darker shade of grey on the wings...

until later

Zhengdefu 1/48 EF-111A Raven: One scary kit (WIP#1)

As the title suggested.. this is one scary build of mine...
very scary...

First.. the box ...
Let me laugh.gif first... !!
another typical Zhengdefu kit coming from me.
this another one of those early kit i bought over at the local supermarket when i started this scale modelling back another 6-7 years ago...

surprisingly.. not much issue in putting this together some other modeler find a warped tail fin but mine just ok.. no issue... but becareful when joining the cockpit area-fuselage to the main fuselage.. a big step there but in my case its already too late.. i should have join the front fuselage to the main fuselage before combining the top and the bottom half.

IIRC i started this way back in the days...way way way back... when i started scale modelling... (did i mentioned way-way-way-way back)

Since the decal is unusable.. i bout a AM decal from XtraDecals (more photos below..)

A-10A Thunderbolt Part Deux - Completed- less glossy version

an update to my A-10A completed earlier.

The finish on the earlier A-10 is a bit glossy.. so i  work a lil bit on improving it and with a bit of thinned Sandy yellow and a few coat of flat coat this is what i end-up with...

hopefully its better than the previous version :o)

click HERE for the Glossy version

Enjoy..

A-10A Thunderbolt II - Operation Desert Storm - Completed

Completed my A-10 Thunderbolt II and still a lot more to learn...

Please excuse my "shiny" aircraft since i believe i might need to tone down the glossiness in the near future.. until then i call this one DONE!!..

This is my first 1/72 scale in a long while.... so please enjoy the photo and please excuse the glossiness again...

** my eyes are hurting**

behold the "glossiness"...

some of the WIP can be viewed A-10 WIP HERE

Trumpeter Seahawk FGA MK6 - decal (WIP 2)

its been a while..

Follow-up on my WIP 1 on this Trumpeter Seahawk FGA MK6

moving on with the build and finally manage to complete the decal process... and i end-up have to remove my earlier painting of the Invasion Stripes due to the dimension is out of specs... and i end-up using the decal for the stripes on the wings...

Before paint stripped
After using the decal and some panel wash.. better is it?

I really wish i did that much sooner (using the decal on the wings) since it just fit nicely to the wings and sure save me from the hassle of masking it .. anyway its done and i'm really glad.

So after the decal i move on doing a panel wash with Promodeller Dark... and the effect is really nice.. and this is the first time that i use Promodeller Dark wash on the whole aircraft.

The result as as follows...

Next.. will need to clear coat and touch-up with some weathering...

Hopefully my next post this Trumpeter Seahawk FGA MK6 is done and ready for the event in June 15, 2013...

until later..
for now i'm off to my Department Dinner @ The Manhattan Fish Market....

Trumpeter 1/48 Seahawk FGA MK6 - WIP (1)

Its been a while since i last post any of my scale models in my blog. Not that i've stop building, but rather been busy to actually put any progress here.

Now i have 2 consecutive build on the bench and both are due in June 2013, so here is the first lot of the 2. the Trumpeter 1/48 Seahawk FGA MK6 aircraft.

The Box art
The build is straight forward just with an occasional issue i always have with the seam-lines on the side of the fuselage. A little putty and sanding clean it up pretty nicely.

I'll be doing this in a Sues Campaign 1956 scheme for the 810 Sqn on board the HMS Albion.

Primed and ready for the pain booth and i'll will build this with its wing folded. To save some space in my display cabinet :)

The kit supplied the Suez stripes for the Seahawk as a decal but i'm being a modeler that i am like to make thing hard for myself... so i decided to mask the stripes and airbrush them one by one..

See below..for more..
